Sometimes early in life, we have this idealistic, overly optimistic outlook on life and the future of what could be. It may have been influenced by content that we watch, our parents or friends, or just our own imagination going rogue. Either way, it often times is far from the reality of what life is really like, and the responsibilities that it brings. The key here isn’t to fight it reality, but to fully accept it for what it is.

Self-Reflection Question

What vision of life did I cling to that no longer serves me, and how has that attachment kept me from fully living in the present?

This question helps you confront the gap between expectation and reality. GI Griffin pushes you to release the outdated version of how life “should’ve” been, and instead face what is. True growth begins when you stop resisting reality and start building with what’s real—not what you once hoped.

Self-Improvement Challenge

Write down the top 3 expectations you had for your life that didn’t happen. For each, write how you’ve grown because of what did happen.

The goal isn’t to grieve what didn’t go your way—it’s to reclaim power by reframing your perspective. Life may not be what you imagined, but it’s still yours to shape. This challenge shifts your mindset from disappointment to ownership.
