30 May Just Because You Can…
”Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. Our culture is obsessed with progress at the cost of well-being and survival.”
Reflection:
As a culture and society, we are absolutely obsessed with progress. The constant pursuit of “more”, and the costs be damned. The problem is that those costs are our health, our mental and emotional well-being, our jobs, and even our ability to survive.
We traded in our safety and longterm survival for comfort and luxuries. It’s no longer about setting up the next generation so that they can thrive, but getting more now for ourselves in the short term while kicking the can of a messed up future down the road for someone else to pick up. A tactic that may have worked for a short period of time, but we see how well that is working out now…
Just because you can do something doesn’t mean that you should. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean that you have the responsibility skills to handle it without longterm negative effects. Act wisely my friends and learn gratitude for what you have instead of always wanting more. That is a trap of comfort and discontent.
