21 Mar Adaptation in an Ever Changing World
The world right now seems like people have lost their collective mind. Not everyone; some still fight for the very values that brought us together, but many wish for division for self interest. While we like to control our environment for safety and the feeling of security, some changes are simply beyond our control. What is within our control is how we react to it and our willingness to adapt to the changes that life inevitably brings.
The World Is No Longer What We Knew
The world we once knew almost seems like a figment of imagination. Hopes of a better future slowly overtaken by fear and anger. Nations at war, decades old alliances burned, climate change speeding up, and the people around us becoming more and more selfish. Some are unable to face the reality of our situation and do their best to distract themselves. This is a temporary fix which often leads to more struggle when the time comes that they can’t ignore it anymore.
The world has changed because we have changed. People seem to have forgotten the values that held us together. Forgotten how to work together in cooperation. Forgotten that freedom is not free, and sometimes you need to fight for it. All things that lead to the negative outcome that people are experiencing right now and don’t know what to do about it.
Adaptation Is Survival
The keys to getting through these times are two things. One mindset based and the other action based. The first is acceptance. Without acceptance, you can’t be in the right mindset to deal with the reality of the situation. If you’re trying to look away at the problem and distract yourself, you don’t have the relevant information or sight to see where your actually going and where you need to go for the best outcome for yourself.
The other is adaptation. When they mention the phrase “survival of the fittest”, this in reality means survival of the most adaptable. Your ability to adapt to your environment has a direct impact on your survival. In nature, those who don’t adapt are subject to the rule of natural selection, and we are not exempt from this rule. Adapt or die would be nature’s mantra, and one we should probably take up ourselves.
Adaptation For Personal Development
Adaptation isn’t solely for physical survival, but can play a big role in us getting our personal desires as well. Adaptation can also be a mindset in which we are able to navigate the world and achieve our goals most efficiently. Being stubborn and unwilling to change to a changing situation leaves you stuck, frustrated, and not getting anything you want. Adapting to the change puts you ahead of the rest and that much closer to your wants and goals. It is choosing to let life happen as it may and not fight against it. It is choosing to being open to possibilities that may even be better than you had originally planned.
This is the way to being fit to survive and creating space for your wants and goals to have a chance to manifest themselves naturally. Stay adaptable my friends.
