28 May Comfort vs Peace
”Don’t let external things impact your internal peace.”
Reflection:
Buddha tried to point out that your attachment to your desires was the source of your suffering, and he was right. In our modern world, it’s our attachment to our comforts, conveniences, and luxuries that create struggle through you either trying to obtain them or keep them.
What has lead to this in modern culture is confusion in thinking that comfort equals peace. It does not. In fact, comfort often comes at such a price that it has a negative impact on your peace; usually emotionally. By straightens, stressing, and overworking to obtain and keep your comforts, the process actively works against your chances of obtaining peace.
